Sound Part Two

Music is a special type of sound.  It not only pleases our ears, the patterns of its vibratory motions encapsulte a system of rhythms, relationships, proportions and harmonies that exist thorughout the natural and human made world.  From the movements of the planets around the Sun to the growth of cells and plants, to the sacred numbers and ratios of ancient beliefs and religions, to art, architecture and mathematics.  Music is universal human language: of initiation in rites of passage, as a guide through the labyrinths of expanding consciousness, and as a route to profound healing and spiritual fulfilment.  People have used sounds, particularly musical sounds, naturally and therapeutically through the centuries.  The origins of healing by sound and music can be traced into prehistory and beyond, into the realm of myth, religion and soul memory.  In ancient Egypt, the hieroglyph for music was also that for joy and well being.  The Vedic Sanskrit scholars of ancient India, and the Greeks, as well as other cultures, understand music to be mathematical and, as Pythagoras taught, they made the equally interesting connection between sound, music and the science of astronomy.  In "Poetica" Aristotle stated that poetry was comprised of language, rhythm and sound.  He also pointed toward the potency of sound vibrations to influence human thoughts and emotions.  The philosophers of the school of Pythagoras regarded all physical forms as manifestations of music; the relative proportions of musical sounds parallel the physical proportions of natural and atchitectural shapes.  These ancient doctrines held that life and health depended upon a continuum of ratios and harmonic relationships, from within the mind and through the body, out to society and the natural world.  The same ratios and harmonics were manifested as sound and music.

Correctly applied sound could bring about cures by restoring the musical integrity of the body and soul.  Ancient prescriptions often included rhythmic singing and chanting, from a traditional selection of sacred melodic sequences.  The peoples of ancient cultures perceived earthly music as an echo or resonance of cosmic music; they obeyed the same divine laws. If these earthly sounds reflected the divine laws, they had the power to ease pain and suffering and promote health and healing.  Cosmology and musical theory were therefore developed on parellel principles, which govern the design and making of musical instruments, composing and performing and the attitude of the listener.  Humanity, correctly aligned in "tune", could sing in vibratory consort with the stars in this quest for universal harmony.  The sheer power of music to evoke emotional response has been a recurring theme of poetic and musical celebration.  Music can bypass the mind's logical and analytical filters, to make direct contact with profound feelings and passions deep in the memory and imagination.  This, in turn, produces physical, psychological and spiritual reactions.

Physical effects can be introduced in other ways.  Energies including sound energy, are morally neural.  That is, they can be used for good or ill.  Sound is potent force, when abused it can irritate, disorientate, injure and even kill.  Reverence for all life, and a sense of moral responsibility are imperative for the appropriate use of sonic energies.  This sense of responsibility and burden of accountability was deemed a requirement of students of classical philosophy in ancient Greece and Rome, when healing music was carefully chosen to ensure health, purity and a stable character.

Vibrational healing is often described as healing through the use of sound- either the sound of the voice, animated instruments like the didgeridoo or drum or inanimate instruments like a tuning fork or synthesizer.  The sounds that are used in a thereapy session induce a shift in consciousness that helps the clients to get unstuck from their belief in disease or misfortune.  Actually, it is the sound working through the energy centres of the body that effects the healing, causing the rapid shift in consciousness by activating, cleansing, balancing and aligning the chakras.  This is what the Pure Vibration Frequency CD Line accomplishes. Discover the sound of natural frequency in the Chakra Balancing Frequency CD and see if you feel any shifts in your awareness!
