Cleansing Crystals

It is very important to clean your crystals after use. This will ensure that any residual disharmonies are removed from the stones. This you can do with water, smudging, etc. Use your inner guidance and use only the technique that truly resonates with your energy field! The following are some techniques you can do to clear your crystal collection! These techniques can also be used on your Quantum Energy Clearing Programmed Crystals.

Natural Water Cleansing (this is particularly suited to those born under a water sign)

Find a source of pure, clean, fresh water. This may be a stream, waterfall, river or spring. Hold your crystal under the flowing water until you feel all the dirt or stored negative vibrations have left it. When this process is complete you will feel your crystal is pure and vibrant. It is now ready to be used. BE SURE YOUR CRYSTAL IS SAFE IN WATER. Some crystals such as talc, halite, selenite are water soluble.

Salt Water Cleansing

Purely from a scientific angle, I would never use saltwater on a crystal, as this process will, in a short time, damage the crystalline structure and split the crystal or make it appear cloudy, dull, or change color. Remember, salt is also a crystal. Salt will get into any other crystalline structure, causing irreparable structural damage.If you intend to try and clean with the salt vibration, you can accomplish this by placing your crystal in a large bowl of sea salt, allowing enough salt to completely cover the crystal. Leave it buried for as long as your intuition tells you. Wsh your crystal with plenty of fresh, clear, clean pure water after its salt immersion. Laying an Opal in salt will damage it by extracting the water. You can lay Opal or any crystal that might react negatively to salt in a small glass dish that is embedded in a larger glass dish full of salt.

Smudge Cleansing (this technique is particularly suited for those born under an air sign)

This technique is most preferred for those with an Auric Clearing Programmed Crystal, Karma Removal Programmed Crystal, DNA Activation Programmed Crystal, Unconditional Love Programmed Crystal, Fear Removal Programmed Crystal, Victimization Removal Programmed Crystal.You will clear the negativities from the crystals but will not deprogram your crystals.

The burning of herbs or incense is a sacred practice held in common by many traditions. In American Indian tradition the practice is called "smudging" or sometimes "smoking" even though the herbs may not be inhaled. Smudging, practised traditionally, takes many forms. Sometimes the herbs are tied in a bundle called a "smudge stick". There are certain herbs that lend themselves to braiding, such as sweet-grass. To smudge cleanse a crystal or gemstone you need a safe container that is heat-proof. Ceramic and glass bowls or abalone shells work well. There is also special chalices designed for smudging. Place either sage, cedar, copal, lavender, fennel or sweet-grass into the container and light the herbs usin a candle or lighter. Matches are not very efficient because it takes a while for the herbs smoking. If you prefer to light your whole bundle or braid, hold it in a candle flame until the smudge glows red hot. Blow out the flame; it will smolder for a least a few minutes. You will need a bowl or shell to catch the hot ashes. The bundle or braid of herbs will eventually go out by itself. Should you need to put it out before it does, you can tap it out as you would a cigarette or cigar.  Putting water on it to put it out is messier and considered disrespectful to the fire spirits.  The idea of burning herbs is to release their fragrance and energy, not to fill your room or lungs with smoke.  Burning excessive amounts of smudge can lead to respiratory distress and other respiratory problems.  Show consideration for other people when burning smudge.  Avoid burning smudge in the same room as infants and anyone who is preganant and those who have respiratory problems, or those who have asthma or respiratory allergies.  Avoid fire hazards, never smudge around flammable substances and never leave burning smudge, charcoal, candles or fires unattended.  Smudging is also used during healing work and prayer.  The Native Americans believe it helps them to connect to their spirit helpers.  The smoke carriers their intention to the sky world.  Allow the smoke to pass around the crystal, gently carrying away any harmful, stagnant vibrations to the elements of air to be dispersed and trasmuted.  IF you are using this technique indoors, be sure to keep a window open to allow the stagnant vibrations a place by which to exit.

Earth Cleansing (this technique is particularly attractive to the earth signs amongst us)

This technique is extremely useful whn you feel your crystal is particularly negative.  By placing it in the earth you are returning it to its "Great Mother" for realigning, nuturing and cleansing.  Crystals love this experience; they simply enjoy the whole process of earth placement.  After you have buried your crystal in the earth, mark the place with a twig or other marker if you intend to find it again.  Also be aware that if your pet has watched you enact this ceremony it may try to dig up your crystal to help you!  This cleansing process can take some time.  Once again, follow your inner guru to let you know how long to leave your crystal in the earth.  Please note, however, that you may have a soil that will damage your gemstone.  Some soils are very acid, so please check before you bury it, otherwise you may find your crystal has been damaged.

Flowers or Petals for Cleansing

Gather petals or flowers of any kind you feel attracted to.  Very often you may feel a particular vibration is needed for each crystal or gemstone.  Obvious flower choices would be lavender for cleansing, roses for love, chamomile for soothing; the list is endless.  Place your flowers or petals in a clear glass container and leave the crystals completely covered by the flowers for at least twenty-four hours.  This process is gentle and nurturing.

Sound Cleansing

For this process you will require a crystal singing bowl, bells, a gong, ting-shaw, rattle or drum.  Simply allow your chosen sound to wash over the crystal, purifying, cleansing and freeing it of any stuck or negative vibrations.  This process can take a little time, but it is very effective for large quantitites of crystals which may all need cleansing at the same time.

Toning

You may use a mantra such as Om to cleanse a crystal or gemstone.  This is quick and effecient, bringing a powerful cosmic vibrational energy to aid you in this way, which is very empowering to both you and your crystal.  You may also charge or energise your crystal with you favorite mantra.
